God Bless them for making this site that helps so many people and making a business out of it.

Yes, thank you MFP for helping so many people and making a business out of it from the advertising revenue. As I was reading this thread - I found it quite ironic that it was Amazon.com advertising that they now carried Lays Potato Chips!

If only they could find a way to turn a profit everytime someone gets butthurt around here it would be worth triple that.

I'm very happy to see this. The banner ads I can live with considering this is a free site.

This tells me that MFP will go on indefinitely and probably their biggest threat will be other free sites in the future. But with all this momentum I doubt they would ever go the way of myspace.

MFP by being free promotes long term lifestyle change. awesome.

I could do without the occassional potato chip and lap band banner ads. I just ignore them honestly and well worth the hassle.

Their staff... maybe 10 people? not sure? I guess their yearly expense are $1 million. a wild guess. so turning a tidy profit of $1 million and giving 35% to the government. a nice business!

they are making .0015 cents every time I visit (about 1/10 of a cent). They make money on impressions as well as clicks, right?

    this is interesting.

banner ads are the ads popping up on top and right for products to buy. :)

I've blocked the ads. It's very easy to do. just download the adblocker for whatever you use. I'm using Firefox.
TO OP: This site is worth way more than monetary value to me.

I spent hundreds with WW, several times. Yes, WW was a good experience, but- this is as good and free.

    Forgetting mobile ads.

They honestly deserve way more if we compare the service they are contributing to humanity vs other sites that waste time *cough* Facebook *cough*.

The above link mentions around USD 2,666 from daily ad revenue which must be good enough IMHO to run the site.

    YES!

They could also make a killing if they made money every time a thread was derailed with a gif.

    So, who here likes penguins?

LOL, I have a website that NEVER had traffic and was told it was worth $20,000. ( by one of those sites like the one the OP got info from ).... take it with a grain of salt.

Take it all with a grain of salt. I have a website that is failry well known locally and I've seen some of those valuation sites list it as high as $250,000. Now, I would LOVE to have someone come and buy it for that, but the reality is, no one is going to pay those kind of prices. If MFP was bought out it might get into a few million, depedning on assets and true revenue.
