Anyone work in food service?

My dining hall posted this sign about only serving eggs on a sandwich... So now I need to waste a roll whenever I order an egg.
It seems like BS to me, but was wondering if they're legally supposed to do this for some reason?

Originally one of the employees said it meant that you couldn't combine eggs with other meat on a sandwich like chicken and egg sandwich, but now they're making me take an egg on a roll. They're not forcing me to eat cheese or bacon at least.

Sounds weird....but....you can eat the bread, right? You aren't gluten intolerant? Nothing wrong with a roll. Or throw it away.

...and, the reason is bunk. I worked in food service. There is some other reason they are doing it. Like, no one knows how to cook.

There isn't anything illegal about it. Companies care about the money they make, and can make more by selling more, and sell more by being able to produce more at a faster rate. Not to mention customers are kept happy by having food as soon as they pay for it.

    3 years working for McDonalds
Husband has been working there for 7 years.

The cross contamination thing is when egg products and meat products are cooked on the same surface. After they are cooked they are safe to serve together, but every grill/spatula/tray must be split. So if they wish to save time they would just avoid the possibility of cross contamination by not cooking one of the products.

I work in a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch items. We will put an egg on anything that you want...but when we stop serving breakfast and go to all lunch items, the grill has to be cleaned before we can cook another breakfast item on it because of cross-contamination. It is a pain in the butt...but we do it in the name of awesome customer service. But I can see where some people may not want to go through all the hassle...

hmm so they used to just serve eggs only at breakfast, and then they changed it to all day... but with lunch and dinner, they only serve eggs on rolls. They still serve them and don't clean the grill in between. Pretty sure they don't even separate things because I usually taste bacon grease on my eggs. (I'm a vegetarian so ew)

It's also buffet style so ppl order as much as they want.

Can you boil up some eggs at home and bring them for a snack? If all you want is eggs, that would do the trick.

I'm paying for a meal plan to eat at the dining hall, and I can still get eggs, just have to throw away the bread. I don't like being wasteful is all.

And usually eggs are their only vegetarian source of protein. So I eat eggs to have more protein and less carbs. So def don't want it on the roll!

My dining hall is stupid. :(

I wish they split things because I'm a vegetarian, but they def don't. :(
