The only advice I have to offer is make sure it's the WII U and not the WII, as it's being phased out.

Personally my experience with the kinect has been sub par at best :/ so much potential but the set up and other factors (distance from it, lighting, games, etc.) place it in second to my Wii. And I agree if you are going to get a Nintendo product go WiiU there's a new WiiFit coming out and the traditional Wii is no longer going to have games produced for it.

I'm much fonder of the XBox plus it might still come with a little set of games called Kinect Adventures which is what I started with. Rallyball in particular is a ton of fun. I also did my own little River Rafting dance thing. Goofy, but burns serious calories. Plus I had some weights I used in between rounds and games. I had a good fun starter workout going.

The newest Zumba for Kinect is supposed to be very good, too. The first one often didn't pick up movement properly, I hear the second one is better.

One thing though, you really should have about ten feet of space on each side to take full advantage. Can you move some furniture around?
  • I have both.

Kinect will be more beneficial for what you're wanting to do. I have Nike+ Kinect Training. Great game. It will help with form, exercises, etc.
