Why wouldn't you encourage your loved ones to get healthy?

I came across something very interesting in the past couple of months working with people who want to get healthy and in shape....
I've noticed that husbands are tend to be more supportive of their wives getting fit. But wives being supportive of their husbands getting fit? Eh....not so much.
I thought that peculiar since wives tend to be more supportive of their husbands in general. Makes me wonder...is wife insecure because she is not taking care of herself? Or is she just tired of husband's frivolity with his "hobby of the month"? lol

Some women, fit or not, seem to want to be attached at the hip with their husband and any activity she doesn't participate doesn't get her approval.0

My relationship is the other way around, I push my husband to be healthy and he laughs and offers me a candy bar. Hey, at least hes willing to share.0

I feel like it depends. I tell my husband I ate such a healthy lunch and hes like oh what? Ill tell him and he will try to nit pick at it and say well thats not THAT good and then if I work out he laughs....Its not very supportive in my book haha0

You're right...that's not. He sounds like Doug from King of Queens lol
My ex husband was pretty supportive. Although he would make fun of me when I worked out and used to take pics of me working out while i yelled at him...but it was all in good fun. Once he realized I'm a much nicer person when I work out, he wouldn't even complain when my jumping around at 5am woke him up lol
I've been told by one client that his wife refuses to change what she cooks to accommodate his fitness goals. He wasn't asking for anything major, just maybe she lighten up their recipes a bit. I had another guy yesterday tell me his wife would kill him if he buys another fitness program, yet it's ok for her to take off to the Poconos on the weekend (mind you, hubby's the breadwinner and she don't really work lol). So I guess it's more than not being supportive, but acting like they don't want their husbands to get healthy.0 -
That's a very good question.
Though my boyfriend and I are very supportive of each other's fitness and health, I could see this happening with other positive things if one of us didn't want to do it. Like if we actually lived together and I decided to go vegetarian, I think he would be remarkably unsupportive. I could see it now, "But you're going to still like.. buy meat, right? And cook it for me?" Not in a gender role way, in an I'm-a-better-cook way0
