Looks like I have done the opposite to you - after 8 years of working out at gyms around the world, last month I ditched the gym membership, purchased a box set of dvds and some weights and started working out at home.

    I'm loving it.

Gyms are fine if they work with your schedule. My biggest problem with them personally is that, usually, they don't. For most people, they're just a hurdle between them and their workout, and it's much easier to just skip a day when you also have to get in the car, drive, deal with the front desk, locker room, etc.

If your routine is 20 feet from your couch, it's much harder to avoid it.

I am paying for over 6 years a joined membership with my husband, I have gone 50 times only, I am committing myself to start going again, I bought training sessions just to get me going and I start on Monday ! Hope this time I keep going and don't quit, I need to exercise my heart.

Not sure what you use in the gym or how much room you have, but you might check Craigslist for the items you like in the gym. You can get used weights there, for instance, for a fraction of the price of new ones. Could be nice for those days you just don't feel like traveling to the gym.
