??? gluten free/vegan easter dinner/desserts ???

Options
If anyone has any holiday recipes that are both vegan and gluten free, I would appreciate any suggestions. Desserts especially!

As usual, family gatherings are not my friend. I always have to bring my own food so I don't go hungry or cave and eat what is there. My family eats meat and little else, so being a vegetarian is very frowned upon. :ohwell:

This year I have been diagnosed with food allergies (mainly gluten/wheat, dairy, and peanuts) and my family is finally taking me serious! My sister is grilling me some veggie kabobs and I have been welcomed to make the veggie tray and dips! I would also like to bring a few other small dishes for myself and to share. They are open to it! Since my family is finally coming around, I'd love to be able to share and show them that my food is yummy too. But I'm so new to this, I'm not sure what to make.

Thanks in advance!

these are both fantastic web sites for vegan recipes. the 2nd one has more gluten free recipes as the woman who writes it is gluten free. she does have nuts in many (i have a tree nut allergy) but i bet you can find something fantastic to share with your family!!

    good luck & happy Easter!

Hey, not exactly on topic, but I hope this is helpfull.

My wife has a migrane reaction to dairy, so I guy her vegan chocolate from "Rose City Choclatiers" http://www.rosecitychocolates.com/ . The stuff is really good, and takes some of the pain out of not being allowed milk chocolate.

i make this without a crust. it is fabulous! and 116 calories for a 2X2 square. i bake it in an 8X8 glass pan instead of like a pie. it is wonderful. even my kids love it!

i am vegetarian--not vegan--but you can substitute the eggs as well. also i use fresh sweet potatoes and mash them (i always have some in the freezer so it isnt difficult or time consuming), and i double the cinnamon.

agave is great too. it is low glycemic--only 27 on the index. Honey is 83 and sugar is 119!

agave is available in the honey section of most groceries.

they also have peach cobbler recipe and others. i substitute gluten free flour anytime it calls for flour.

Alea at this blog has some gluten issues and allergies in her family. She has a lot of recipes - most not vegan, but could probably be altered to fit your needs. I'd imagine she has something you could use - plus it's a great blog!

Thanks for all the tips and links guys!

The weather is so nice, I'll have to save this research for later tonight.

Have a fantastic day wherever you are!
