Muscle, or?!...

Hey everyone.
When I originally started losing weight I lost around 7 kilos, no exercise just watching what I ate. However, now that I've added exercise in for the past 1.5 weeks (30 Day Shred, if that's any help) I haven't lost anything. It's fair to say that I do have fat to lose, LOL. Would I be correct in thinking that I have lost fat and gained muscle/ retained water due to working out? (:
It's a little discouraging not seeing a difference, which is why I'm not going to weight myself for a whole month, but I just thought I'd ask as I'm not too familiar with this whole thing.
ALSO, I think that it feels like I haven't lost any weight a lot longer than it's actually been, which again plays havoc on my mind.

I would bet you are retaining a bit of water to assist in muscle repair. Keep up the new fitness routine!0

Thank you! It's a bit of a mind game when I have the weight to lose and it's not coming off!
I think I need to hunt down my measuring tape today!0 -

Yup.
Anytime you increase intensity or start exercising, your muscles will retain water (for glycogen storage). It often masks smaller losses.
When I started weight training again, I didn't lose anything for the first 4 weeks. I even went up a pound or two. I even barely lost according to measurements. However, I did take photos. When you compared day 1 to 4 weeks in, you could see the difference in my face, arms, even the spot between my waist and hips.
The scale can be deceiving. Hang in there.0 -

Were you physically smaller? (:0 -
Yes. It just didn't show on the scale the measuring tape did show some progress but the pics showed more. You can't measure everywhere and fat loss is all over. For example, I measured my waist and my hips but the area in between that you can't measure accurately all the time also got smaller. Eventually the scale did catch up.0

Thank you so much, this is just what I needed to hear!0 -
Well, I had similar result. I would workout 2 to 3 hours a day burning nearly 700 to a 1000 calories a day, but I didn't see any result for over a month, which was extremely frustrating.. Not only the excessive part but I also was watching my diet eating no more than 1200 calories. So it didn't add up and was so angry, BUT I can tell you from my experience, STICK WITH THE EXERCISE!! Because after 6 weeks, results came drastically!! Close to 3 months now since day one, I have now lost 16 pounds, lost 3 inches off my waist and hips, 2 inches off my thighs!!
Best part is, now I eat around an average of 2000 calories with moderate exercise, and maintaining my weight. Once you lose your weight off exercise, there's definitely less chance of, so called "YO YO DIET", besides my portions have gone down, so I eat less, but frequently. I try to eat salad before every meal with only balsamic vinegar or if I'm at a restaurant, I ask for vinegar and oil caddy so I can drizzle vinegar over my salad, and this way, makes me less room for main meal and always take it home to eat it the next morning.
One hint!! I tried the apple cider vinegar every morning as my trainer suggested and that took a big roll in burning fat.
Lastly, please don't give up on exercise! It will pay off and once it does, you can enjoy more delicious food without having to worry about gaining back too soon like those other diets that are only depended on food.
Keep it up!!0 -

Were there any changes in your measurements after 4 weeks? Or only after 6?0 -
