lemon can help as an appetite suppressant. but so can pickles [0 cals], eating spicy foods helps you burn extra calories as well...
but the way i think you mean is the 7 day lemon/water diet, that sounds a lot more like suicide. and you will just gain the weight back, you basically will probably just lose water weight and muscle.

lemon squeezed in water has some pretty solid benefits!

Support immune function: Lemons are high in antioxidant vitamin C, known for its supportive role in healthy immune function1,2 which may reduce the risk of respiratory infection3. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) found in lemons demonstrates anti-inflammatory effects, and is used as complementary support for asthma and other respiratory symptoms4,5. Lemons also contain saponins6, which show antimicrobial properties that may help keep cold and flu at bay. Last but not least, ascorbic acid enhances iron absorption in the body; iron plays an important role in immune function7.

Alkalize the body: Although the tartness of a lemon may make them seem acidic, lemons are actually one of the most alkalizing foods for the body. Lemons contain both citric and ascorbic acid, weak acids easily metabolized from the body allowing the mineral content of lemons to help alkalize the blood.

Aid digestion: Citrus flavonols8 are believed responsible for lemon’s traditional use as a digestive tonic. Believed to stimulate and purify the liver, lemon juice is traditionally understood to support digestive hydrochloric acid in the stomach further aiding digestion. Vitamin C status has been associated with reduced risk of peptic ulcers caused by the bacteria Helicobacter pylori9.

Clear skin: Vitamin C and other antioxidants in lemons combat free radical damage. Free radical damage — especially as caused by UV exposure and environmental toxins — is responsible for many symptoms of aging. Antioxidant intake can help offset this damage, minimizing wrinkles. Further, lemon juice can be applied topically to scars and age spots to help reduce their appearance. Traditionally used as a liver stimulant, lemon water is also believed to help purge toxins from the blood, helping to keep skin clear of blemishes.

Promote healing: Ascorbic acid (vitamin C), found in abundance in lemons, promotes wound healing, and is an essential nutrient in the maintenance of healthy bones, connective tissue, and cartilage10. As noted previously, vitamin C also displays anti-inflammatory properties. Combined, vitamin C is an essential nutrient in the maintenance of good health and recovery from stress and injury.

As far as dropping pounds... Don't think so Tim!

Lemon tastes pretty good. Insignificant calories and can flavor up veggies, teas and juices without adding oils or sugars.

As for miracles..if there was a miracle for weight loss especially something so well loved such as a lemon we would all be guzzling honey lemon-aid.

I have an alternative miracle. Eat less than you need to maintain your weight. Get up and move your body around really fast everyday for 30-60 minutes and only take one rest day and by the end of the year tell us what happens. :))

Don't know about that. But, I do know that a study that looked at adding grapefruit to a diet found that people who ate half a grapefruit a day lost more weight than people who ate the same diet but did not eat the grapefruit.

It'll help a sore throat and has the benefits jjrichard8 mentioned, but...that's it. It can help with bloating because it's a diuretic, but that's not really the kind of weight loss we're ideally going for.

Just make sure not use lime, that stops your fat burning metabolism.

Seriously, you keep posting all these kooky home remedies for weight loss. Apple cider vinegar, lemon, etc... Why not just spend that time working out and counting your calories?

I don't think it's a miracle but it has some benefits. I drink hot water with a squeeze of fresh lemon in the mornings before my long runs. It helps keep things hydrated and prevents cramping up.

There are benefits but it's definitely not a substitute for working out and eating right.

stop looking for miracles, there are none, otherwise they would have been prescribed to all obese people and there would be no more obesity.

count calories patiently, lose weight slowly and steadily, exercise and eat healthy food to stay healthy, stay motivated, and it all will come off in the end.
