where to get good shoes when you live in the boonies?

I have had some foot problems the last 2 years as my favorite shoe fellow at our local place left and the new salespeople don't know anything. I lived in New Balance and the manager always knew just what would work.
I have tried to find a few new things on my own, I did Saucony and they were great (i lived in them!) but lasted less than 3 months before my feet hurt again. I did KSwiss and wore them out (not cheap!) in just over 2 months plus in order to fit well width wise, the shoe was about 2 sizes too large and I cracked the top quickly because it was too big (yes, the salesperson fitted that one on my foot . . . ) I dont' mind spending $150 on good shoes, but they honestly need to last more than 2 months. I must be hard on shoes though as whenever I go in the salespeople ask me, "Do you mind me asking what you do for a living? We don't see shoes like that very often." LOL And I'm usually good and get new shoes 2x a year so it isn't like I am wearing a 2 year old pair of shoes.
I have purchased from Tradehome, but we also have a Scheel which I am not fond of but would go into if they had good people (my experience is they find the most expensive of whatever you want and then sell you on that - PLUS they ignored my husband and I the last time we were there. . ). The only reason Tradehome worked is that the manager was a runner so he was really good at what he did. When he left, his replacements aren't doing it for DH or myself.
I am a bit particular, I have a wide foot with some foot pain, so usually purchase men's shoes and I sometimes try on 20 pairs before something fits well enough to not hurt. So I can't imagine shopping online (unless it is to find a replacement for my New Balance which the last Tradehome rep said is no longer in production - I knew I should have purchased another 2 pairs . . . )
It is an 80 mile drive to our local tradehome and Scheel and a 2.5 hour drive to a large city center, but from going online I see they have a Beyondrunning, Journeys, Finishline - are those recommended places?
I was treated very well when I went into Tradehome. When I went into Scheels I was treated like an overweight Mom who had 4 little girls with her so must not be willing to spend money and not worth spending time on. I am hoping to begin running a bit more and the shoes I wear right now just can't handle long walking or running (since I wore my Saucony out . . . )
