How long is too long?
Was at the gym for 1 hour 50 minutes today and noticed a lot of people arrived after me but left before me. It's a small gym so it's easy to notice.
How long are you usually there for? What is considered normal?

1-2 hrs and I think that is about average for the people I know at the gym.0

Regardless of what other people think - what do you think? Do you wish you were there less? Is the gym taking too much time out of your day and away from your other responsibilities? Or is it just fine? That is what matters.0

I hit the gym between 5 - 5.20 pm and leave between 8 - 8.20 pm. I do shower after a work out.0
-
Its not about long or short of time you are there its about what you accomplish in that time.0
-
Depends on what I'm doing - during my "rest" week I have generally been there for about 40-50 minutes per workout but on heavier periods I can be there as long as 1.5-2 hours, sometimes even beyond that but it's rare.0

When I was focsed on cardio, I spent more than an hour at the gym (like 90 minutes or so).
Since switching to a weight lifting routine, my workout takes about 55 minutes x3 days a week.0 -
I'm probably no use to you since I don't notice what normal is for most people but I try to do an hours solid work.0
-
I'm usually there for an hour and a half. Enough time to workout for an hour, and then clean up and change.0
-
It's going to differ due to lots of different factors. As long as you aren't in the gym 8 hours a day I think you're fine. Myself, I do about 30 mins of cardio, but if I'm doing weights it's more like 90 mins (with warm-up, cool-down, mobility work, etc factored in)0

Some people I know usually range between 30-45 mins all the way up to a couple hours.
If you think you've done a quality workout in whatever amount of time that you have, the quantity of minutes doesn't matter as much. Kudos for going hard for that long!0 -
45-75 minutes is normal for me0

45-75 minutes is normal for me
Same here.0 -
45-75 minutes is normal for me
me too... depends on what I'm doing, how I'm feeling, how rushed for time I am etc.0 -
About 2 hours. 1 Hour cardio the rest weights0
-
It can be anywhere from 1 hour to 4 hours... depends if I'm doing lots of fiddly stuff with weights or arsing about for no reason. Lots of reasons x0
-
weights only, by myself-45 mins
weights only, with partner(s)-60 mins
cardio or metabolic work, separate or with weights-20 to 36 mins0 -
I would say about 45 mins to an hour and a half. Some days I do 30DS, everytime I go I spend about 35 minutes on the treadmill (10 minute walking warm up, 1 min run/1 min walk x 10, 5 minute cool down - varies each day). I hit the free weights and various weight machines then call it a day.
Short and sweet.0 -
Usually between 45 minutes-1 hour0
-
If I'm in a rush about 40 mins. But I like to spend about 1-1.5hrs so I can try and really push myself, rather than just going through the motions.0

in and out in 60 - 80 minutes0
-
When I go in solo and work it is less time when I meet friends it is longer0

I usually stay for about 1.5hrs once a week which includes my 30 minute personal training session. The other days I workout at my home gym with one day devoted to rest.0
-
Depends which day it is.... but I average about 2 hours there on the 6 days a week I visit!.0

I'm new to gym scene, but I'm usually there about 30-45min. Sometimes I do 30min cardio, 15min weights, but honestly, I find that I get a much better workout doing 30min of intervals on the treadmill or eliptical. My trainer has given me some great tabata workouts I can do at home for the days I can't get to the gym, and those add in more strength. I do 2-3 days at gym on my own, my 1hr fitness challenge class once a week, and 2-3 days at home always with one day off.0
-
Depends on why I'm there.. 30 minutes to 90 minutes..0
-
I'd say about an hour and a half, it depends on whether I'm doing cardio which is a half hour. I take about 45 to 55 minutes with weights. It's dependent on my goal.0

I used to be about 2 hours when I was doing everyday cardio and lifting. Now a days I either lift or do cardio for the most part so I am generally in and out in around 90 minutes. I try not to rush it too much since the kiddo is in the daycare there so that is my time to allow myself to be a little selfish and just focus on me.0

Depends on what I'm there for. I take two 1-hour Pilates classes per week. Other days might be an active rest day from running, so I hit the stationary bike for 30 min to an hour. Or it it's really icy, I might run for 35-45 minutes on the indoor track (can't stand any longer than that, but hate treadmill even more). In the summer, the kid and I might spend the whole day at the pool (okay, not swimming the whole time, but technically, we are at the gym!).
Sometimes I don't go to exercise at all--my husband and I will stop by our gym after our weekly training group runs to sauna before we go home.0 -
I shoot for 5-6 days a week depending on my work schedule ....... sometimes 30 minutes cardio ....... today it was 90 minutes of cardio & weights ....... and sometimes I'll hit a yoga or Zumba class, too ...... it's ALL good !0

30 minutes-1.5hrs depending on what I am doing.0
