Do you work harder when other people are watching?

Confession: I have a treadmill at home but I never do my high intensity workouts there because there's something about the vibe of the gym and with other people there somehow holding me accountable. You?

  • Hell yes. I have loaded an extra 20kg on my leg presses due to being over competitive with other people. That's why I use the gym and do other exercise in a club so the I can be pushed!
  • I like running next to really fit people to prove to myself that I am just as capable as them.

Yes and no. If I'm in class and the teacher corrects/shouts at me, I'll relax my shoulders, straighten my back, whatever. But I'm also good at busting my *kitten* on my own and self-correcting. I certainly don't slack because no one in particular is watching.

I do this too! Running on the treadmill next to a really in shape woman is the best motivator out there! Also doesn't hurt to have a cute guy running on the treadmill ahead of me, keeps my head up and makes it easier to run than when I am looking down at my feet... lol just sayin'.

Yep definitely, that's why I like to work out in a group situation or at least around other people

In Zumba classes I definitely work harder, cause others are there (not necessarily watching). When I do Zumba at home, it's just not the same.

Definitely. I've very competitive so having people around me pushes me at a gym. At home, I'll quit in a minute.
