So I signed up for MyFitnessPal about two full years ago, I'd krept up to my biggest and kept getting injured and was dealing with anxiety issues that I knew working out and eating better would alleviate. I did really well, too, up until this past July. In a year and a half I had dropped 3 sizes and was showing muscle tone, including some nice lines at my abs.
Then in July I got mono. I tried to continue simple exercises at home as best I could- a combination of situps, pushups and jumpin jacks, but it was pretty hard. July and August were pretty much write-offs as I couldn't even walk the dog without feeling extremely sick. In September I started feeling a bit better and I was able to walk the dog again so I started with some light cardio and abs. Then come October I got thyroiditis, which made me feel almost as bad as the mono had. In November I was laid off so I lost my gym (I had a free gym in my office I'd go to) and was pretty depressed. I tried to get right back on the horse and joined a gym close to my home that was easy to go to but the combo of mono + thyroiditis and depression was kicking my butt. Eating is an emotional thing for me so I've crept up again - I'm not anywhere near I was before I started MyFitnessPal the first time but I'm up one size again and feeling pretty disheartened because I feel like I can't work out like I want to so I just don't do it.
Anyways, I'm going to start with just eating better right now since my allergies have started up and I've got sinusitis now so physical activity is difficult. My immune system has pretty much bee decimated in the past 8 months and I was wondering if anyone else has gone through a similar health battle and been able to keep their fitness levels at decent levels. The little that I have been able to do has kept my strength up so I feel like once I get things sorted out I'll be able to get back to where I was relatively easily, but here I am 8 months after I had to stop my routine (I was working out 6 days a week and eating a ton of veggies) and I can't figure out how to ease back in.
