Green Tea & Insulin Resistnace/PCOS

So... here's a contradition.
I am insulin resistant and subclinically have PCOS. My doctor told me to drink green tea. Every article I've ever read has talked about reducing caffine consumption and then in the next breath mentioned drinking green tea.
It is my understanding that green tea increases insulin sensitivity and helps burn visceral fat. Green tea is also very high in caffine-- and if you get decaf, then it loses much of it's value in the processing.
Thoughts?

caffeine in general is just good for weight loss, thats the only real way to decrease insulin resistance is by reducing adipose.
Are you saying articles are telling you not to consume caffeine because of PCOS or IR?
There is a definite link of IR to PCOS (hence why we can prescribe metformin for amenorrhea now) - what articles are you reading saying caffeine should be avoided?0 -
I jsut googled your premise and understand what you are saying! Mostly, from this one: https://www.marksdailyapple.com/coffee-and-insulin-fat-and-post-workout-meals/
I guess caffine is often listed as something to reduce or eliminate.0 -
interesting read - guess I never thought about caffeine decreasing insulin sensitivity, that being said If it is true that it is decreasing sensitivity because it is releasing FAcids then keep the caffeine coming.
on more of anecdotal note - i don't think I could have lost weight without caffeine, it has played a large role for me personally

I'm seeing my doc Friday... I'll ask her and report back.
Best wishes to you as well!0
