Running and Sit Ups

Hey everybody I am looking for some help with running. When I run, I can run four or six miles at a time and not be winded. However, I run them at a slower pace. The other day when I was at the gym I timed how fast a run a mile and it was nine minutes. I am trying to train for a fitness test and have to have a fast time. Any suggestions on how to get that mile down to seven minutes.

Also, for the fitness test I have to do sit ups. I am awful at sit ups and use my arms to propel me forward. Any suggestions on how to fix that?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

For the running, try doing some interval training.
For sit-ups, try other core exercises like planks to strengthen your abs.
