Question about my Fitbit and Calorie Tracking

I've been rocking my Fitbit for about 8 months now and I love it, but I am a little confused on how I should be recording my exercise. When I sync each day the Fitbit tells MFP how many calories I've accumulated during exercise. Because of this I don't manually track in exercise using MFP. Should I be? If I were to exercise for an hour on an elliptical should I just let my Fitbit track my steps and calorie burn or should I track it by searching for the activity on MFP too?
Sorry if this question is confusing but I wasn't sure how to really ask it? I don't want to give myself double credit for my exercise, but I also don't want to short change myself either.
Thanks for all of your answers

If you enter exercise in mfp it will look at he time and not include fitbit for that time. I.E. I've had fitbit calorie adjustments that are removed once I add my exercise data. The way I do it is I wear my fitbit all day and if I do some cardio I wear my heart rate monitor. I log my heart monitor call burn for my exercise and allow my fitbit adjustment for the rest of the day, basically adjusting for my activity0
