I'm pretty new to MFP and have noticed that my sugar intake is over on most days.... any suggestions for slowly cutting back on sugar?

A good place to start is getting all that ice cream and brownies out of your diet.
That one cup of "brownie" was 432 calories - Almost 1/3 of your daily calorie needs.
Many people on here will tell you don't worry, and maybe you don't need to worry about hitting 32 g, but it's a good idea to keep it as low as you can.
YouTube "The Men Who Made Us Fat". It's a 12 part BBC series that shows how the Sugar Industry lobbied WHO and US Gov. about not claiming sugar makes you fat. It's pretty sad, but yes sugar will make you fat if you have too much. Check out the video or read the book - Pure White & Deadly.
This poor guy John Yudkin was discredited - saying there was no evidence, when he knew all along sugar would make us fat.0
