Boots Scales vs Gym Scales

Hey guys,
I'm just posting to ask what is more accurate? I've had 2 different readings the gym scales say i'm only 82kg and the boots scales say i'm 84 kg and it's got me confused to what is more accurate as my mum said the boots scales can be off. I do have just my coat and jeans on when i go boots could they weigh 2 kg? I wouldn't think so though as it's a light jacket.

buy your own and weigh yourself naked first thing in the morning preferably after you use the toilet.0

I didnt find the boots scales accurate at all, when it measures ur height too and tells you you've grown 2 inches. I wish lol0

Only 2kg difference? That's pretty close. You'd be amazed at how much jeans and boots and coats weigh. I reckon about 1kg for the jeans, 1kg for a pair of trainers so who knows what your boots weigh, the coat depends how thick it is. You could weigh yourself with and without the coat & see.
In the end it hardly matters which one you go by - there's no way of saying which one gives your "correct" weight - who can say what that is, every set of scales in the world will vary a bit! Just pick one set and use them, the daily, weekly and monthly variations in your weight - that are entirely normal - will "outweigh" any differences in the scales.
Don't stress about it!0 -
"more accurate" is relative. Just use the same scale for weigh-ins and you'll have an apples to apples comparison.0

The only way to really be able to track weight loss accurately is by being able to weigh on the same scale, at the same time of day, after the same amount of food or drink, wearing the same thing each time.
That's why it's best to just have your own scale at home, choose a time in the morning that will be just after you've woken up (and preferably used the restroom), before you eat breakfast or have any coffee (or juice, or whatever) and weigh yourself in either the same exact PJs every time or just weigh yourself in your underwear each time.
I can wake up, have breakfast, get dressed, step back on the scale and it'll show five pounds heavier from the combo of my shoes, clothes, and the completely undigested food in my stomach. And if you've ever bought a new scale in a store where they are out in display and available to test out, you'll discover that pretty much every scale on display will show you a different weight. It's the nature of the beast with any overused, public, scale that the calibration will be off from overuse and probable abuse along the way.
So just buy your own and go by that one, and no other, for your "official" weight. Take any other weight with a grain of salt.0 -
Yeah, also my scales differ as to what part of the bathroom floor they are sitting on!
(move them about a lot, me?)0 -
Pick one scale and continue weigh-ins on that scale only.0

I prefer digital as the mechanical ones are much easier to "fudge" - you can vary the result by getting off and on again, leaning a bit to one side, moving the scales a little - or a lot - to a different position in the room.
Don't use any scales on carpet, you need a hard surface for them to work properly. I had a new set of digital scales recently that came with "carpet feet" so I weighed myself in the kitchen on a hard floor, then changed the feet and took the scales to the (carpeted) bathroom where I wanted to keep them, and weighed myself again. I was 120 lbs lighter on the carpet than on the hard floor!
Now I keep them on a piece of wide plank on the carpet and they're "consistent" - who knows how "accurate" they are?0
