First Day on myfitnesspal.com

Good morning!

I am excited to be using this site to get back on track and establish a consistency in my approach to healthy eating. I have struggled to lose weight due to insulin resistance, other health issues, etc., but no excuses. I can lose weight when I am able to maintain all of the components (diet, exercise, mental conditioning, etc.), albeit slowly. I can get discouraged when the inevitable plateaus are too long, so I am hoping that using this tracker will help me to see where I can tweak to move beyond the stall.

I have a lot to lose (literally!), but so much to gain by finally getting control back. I am using guided meditations and EFT to support the emotional side of eating. My nurse practitioner was impressed with the 5 pounds I lost so far and she suggested that I use this site so I can know what I can do with my diet.

I have already made many, many positive changes in my diet. I was forced to due to some pretty serious health issues. I now eat organic foods and most of my food comes from within a 10 mile radius of my home! Local farmers and ranchers offer their fare at a winter farmers' market and during the growing season, I belong to a CSA nearby. I am so grateful for the availability of fresh, delicious produce year-round. That's not easy to accomplish in New Hampshire!

I am looking forward to the support of this community to help me achieve my health and fitness goals. And, I am always willing to be here for anyone. One very wise health professional helped me shift my thinking from "I can't have..." fill in the blank with whatever awful food I was craving to "I love to eat...." whatever good food is on my list. I have many diet restrictions, but the glorious, healthful benefit of eating right is a reward in itself.

Good luck to all who are on the journey.

Sincerely,
Cat
