Help with Insanity and tractor tires

I'm going to start Insanity this week. I watched over a couple of the videos I'm seeing a ton of jumping. I've heard people talking about Jump Mats. However I'm not able to find such a thing like at ****'s Sporting Goods, MC Sports, Walmart etc... Any ideas on where to purchase a mat that will help cushion? Also has anyone had luck with getting free tractor tires to workout with? Looking into getting a tire to help with my daily workouts.

Try a place that recycles tires. That is what we do and get people always asking for our over-sized ones for working out.
You could also try a land fill.0 -
Get a 12-18" diameter log and cut it to a 6'+ length. Flip it end over end in a field or in your backyard. There's nothing magic about tractor tires.0

I've been doing Insanity for two weeks now, and I think they recommend the matt if you are working out on hard floors to cushion your landing. I do it in my living room and have not had any issues. Good luck and stick with it... it's well worth it.0

I got lucky on the tractor tire - community recycle/large trash drop-off. I was dropping off some paint and saw a stack of tires. Asked "Can I have one of those?"0

Those of you who picked up the Tractor Tire have you been pleased with its performance? I want to make sure its a worthy piece of equipment before cluttering up my garage.0

If your shoes are good enough you shouldn't need a jump mat. Look to your personal needs as to whether you need a shoe with more or less stability assistance and more or less cushion/support. Get the proper shoe and I promise a mat won't be necessary.0

Not sure I understand what you mean. I use the tire for flipping, as a base for my battling ropes, for box jumps and precision jumps, etc. But it doesn't perform. I do.0 -
I guess what I meant was was the tire meeting up to your expectations and performance needs. Was it holding up to the sledgehammering, jumping flipping etc.....and were you pleased with getting one or was it a 3 week love and now it takes up space?
Battle Ropes best place to purchase? I've been seeing 1.5" 50 ft for around $125 does that sound about right?0
