I just bought a HRM so I thought I'd try it out on Jillian Michaels Killer Abs. After 30 minutes the HRM said I burned 39 calories. That seems pretty low considering when I log 30 minutes of circuit General it gives me 210. Does it seem like the HRM is off? The DVD has some cardio but not a lot but I still work up a sweat.

What brand of HRM did you get, and does it have a chest strap? Only 39 cals burned is really low, something's off.

I agree with Amy...details would be helpful.
  • Sportline no chest strap. It has a heart rate monitor and a calorie monitor. I used the calorie monitor.

So is it one that you have to touch the face of the watch to take a heart rate reading? If so, it's only going by whatever your heart rate was the last time you took a reading. Chest strap models are far more accurate because they monitor your heart rate the entire time.
  • That makes sense. Thanks.
