It works, in 3 months Ive had a lot of strength gains.

    Bench 135 -315

    Squat 135 - 235 I don't squat much low back probs

    Row 105 - 190

    Overhead press 105 - 155

    Deadlift 135 - 405

Wow. That is some impressive gains. Any supplements during that time? I am eating a deficit so I am afraid I won't progress as much as you but I hope to.

Ya, if you're at a deficit, you definitely won't be getting those gains. The average person won't get those types of gains even at a large surplus. I'm guessing there's some muscle-memory at work there.

Not to take anything away from the achievement, that's very impressive. I just don't think people should be expecting that kind of progress or they're going to be disappointed.

I am definitely not. I will be happy if I make it to week 8 or so without failing on any lifts which I plan to do. I eat a deficit but I make sure everything I eat contains a decent amount of protein so that I lose weight and still give my muscles as much fuel as possible to grow. I usually hit 150+ grams per day of protein.

I tried to eat at a deficit and complete stronglifts...I started to stall....you really have to eat more...I wanted to lose fat so I stoped the program...will start again when I'm ready to eat more....

I am currently right now doing the SL 5x5 and am seeing excellent results. My squats have increased by about 50lbs, DL by 75, Bench by 30lbs all in almost 12weeks. Just stick to the protocol and be sure that you diet is in check and watch the gains come. I will say that you will not "Grow" because it is not a hypertrophy program but it is excellent to start with a good strength base and then move to a hypertrophy plan to build on some size.

That's over 4500 calories for me, I am trying to cut fat so I would say that isn't a good idea.

I am still losing fat also but only have about 17 more pounds to go so I have started eating more. I want to at least make it through the 12 weeks.

He does have a spreadsheet where you put in what you are lifting now and it calculates where you should start with the program, so if you are an experienced lifter you don't have to go all the way back to the bar.

Yea I take everything in the supplement dept haha, but I eat a lot and I feel like creatine helped a lot with the strength gains, plus I'm guessing its cause I worked out a lot before, got a girlfriend, stopped for 3 yrs then started again. I was lifting that much before I met her so it just took some time to get back to where I was...

you can still do it but as 3x5 just to maintain muscle and strength while cutting
