Water, Water, and More.. Tea?

I'm a huge advocate of drinking water. Soda and energy drinks haven't had a place in my diet for years. Until a few months ago I drank water, various milks, and the occasional fruit/veggie juices. But when the colder months kicked in I added hot tea to my diet. I used to drink 2-3 liters of water a day. Now I drink at least a liter of water and at least a liter of tea.

My question is this: Should I count the cups of tea as cups of water in my daily water count? Recent studies have shown that tea is not as dehydrating as previously thought. However it's not pure water- it's tea!

What do you all think?

I also drink a lot of tea in winter. I track it in my food diary, not as water.

Tea doesn't dehydrate you, I thought that was debunked a long time ago... And considering it's 99.999999% water, I think it counts. If I couldn't log tea as water, I'd be at "0" every day.
  • Its doesn't matter. Tea = 99% water.

Think about it this way...If you drank 1 litre of water and then ate 5 grams of tea powder would you not count the water because you just ate the tea powder?!?

Tea is water.....water poured over a tea bag. If you don't think tea is water.....you are incorrect.
  • I'm glad you asked this question, I'm trying to get enough water, but it is cold here and tea is my main beverage. Thank again.
