The Food Hospital

There is a new series on Food Channel which I have found fascinating. It is called "The Food Hospital" and it takes patients with known health situations and, by changing WHAT they eat, try to get their symptoms to lessen. I'm fascinated by the link between proper nutrition and the cessation or suppression of various health issues.

Last night's episode was very impressive: they covered the following issues: Crohn's, POCS, Excema, Fatty Liver Disease, Malfunctioning Sperm and Migraines.

Each patient suffering from the above changed their diet and ate specific foods for 12 weeks and came back and got their blood work reanalyzed.

The boy with the migraines had zero migraines once his diet changed. The woman with PCOS had less facial hair and a more regular menstrual cycle. The woman with Crohn's disease identified a trigger food and once she eliminated it, her symptoms lessened.

The people at the food hospital are all very, very well trained and experts in their field - there is a GP, a dietician and a surgeon. They come with a long list of credentials.

I totally support this new show.
