Beauty secrets?!?! Facial mask advice.

I've been a user of the Grape Seed facial mask for years but I'm interested in using something different. I've had an issue with enlarged pores around my nose for years but haven't had much success in finding a product that shrinks them.

Can anyone suggest a great facial mask product that would help with pore shrinkage and tone my facial skin?

Please and thanks in advance!!

I buy Witch Hazel Bar soap from the health food store and it seems to keep my skin from breakouts and gets it really really clean. I have also used a Clay Mask on occasion. I have heard of people that use a thin layer of tomatoe juice as a mask and leave it on about a half hr and wash it off and say it works but I have not tried that one yet.

clay masks are good for this, if it has the added benefit of exfoliation it will diminish your pores over time. get a skin care consultation so you can find one that's right for your skin type, usually with that problem you're most likely oily or combination.

also microdermabrasion products or treatments will go a long way. again try some to make sure the one you use is okay with your skin. some people have sensitive skin and just changing brands or even products within a brand can help. some people become sensitive with age and that's why i strongly suggest you try them out first to see how your skin reacts before dropping big money on it.

good luck it is a very reversible problem.

I do have oily skin but it's pretty well maintained. I make sure to exoliate daily and I use a oil free facial moisturizer, so I don't suffer from breakouts (thankfully). However I cannot seem to shrink these pores around my nose. I will look into finding a clay mask and see if that helps. Thanks again ladies.

I love love love the Burt's Bees mask, I don't know the exact name of it but they only make one version, it's fantastic and all natural (which is important to me, but might not be to you). I am very picky about what I use on my skin, and this one is a winner hands down.

i use homemade masks.. crush 2 strawberries, add a tablespoon of gram flour and a bit of milk.. rinse when dried..
You can also add juice of one lemon in a gram flour and apply it on face.. Plus add lemon juice in milk and rub the curd on your face. keep rubbing in circular motion and it will start to come off from face along with the dirt and dead cells..
    works best :)

i love the queen helene mint julep mask. it's supposed to be good for shrinking pores and getting rid of red spots. i've used it for years and still love its minty goodness.
  • I ground up Oatmeal, Cook it as directions say, then add honey. Great mask. I LOVE IT!!!!

Aspirin mask is great for clearing skin and leaves it so soft. Wet 2 or 3 aspirin and make into a paste. Leave on for 5 minutes. The saliyclic acid does the work. Google it. It's easy.

Edited to say: I see you don't have to worry about clear skin. I'll leave this up though because someone else might be able to use it.
  • I've heard about this before. I haven't tried it yet. How often do you do the mask?

I don't use any type of mask, but I do exfoliate with plain baking soda once a day. Try it. I had terrible pores and now strangers will stop and ask me what I use.

My skin is pretty clear most of the time, so I use it only if I have a breakout for some reason.

If money is no object then Eve Lom is amazing for clearing skin up (my emergency mask when my skin misbehaves - a clay base so a good option for your skin type):

A cheaper option is a simple asprin mask - lifts dead skin cells (so great for enlarged pores) and reduces inflammation:
