To some extent! Though I wouldn't recommend it without understanding something about what it's intended for. IFFYM is more or less for those that have "paid their dues" and understand advanced dieting and how macros affect them in total. there's a reason my training partner can lose weight eating 300g carbs, and I can't =(

Check these threads out, dude. SideSteel and Sara have laid it all out. It's no-nonsense and really simple.

Glad it works for you. Some of saras numbers are off (but are whats been generally accepted as fact up until now). Protein is high, but at least she did say LBM.

I try to calorie cycle every now and then to avoid hitting plateaus - which I recently did after stoping my cycling.

Whatever is "healthy" and easy to follow, go for it! There is always a better way of doing things out there.

Soooo.....are you saying YOU are mythbusting SARA?????
    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Really? What #s are those? Hmmm? Sara and Sidesteel are two of the go to peeps on MFP because they've proven time and time again they KNOW what the hell they are talking about...not to mention at least they don't go pretending to be something they aren't or start advocating things that they don't actually believe in/practice. -.-

I never heard of iifym until this post. I guess I do this somewhat, albeit unintentionally. I eat well all day. I isually have a nice treat for myself in the evening. I stay within my macros and my calorie goal.

I will be reading up on this some more.

This is pretty much how I've structured my eating for over two years. It helped me lose weight steadily, I never felt "deprived", and along the way I learned that I could make healthier choices and still enjoy foods I loved before. I'm still shocked to see myself grabbing a container of Greek yogurt in the afternoon instead of a Snickers bar, but when I plug things into my diary to see where I'm going to get more nutritional "bang for the buck," it becomes easier. Of course, there are days when I just *need* to have that candy bar, and I adjust the rest of my day accordingly.

As others have pointed out -- this isn't carte blanche to fill up your days with junk food, It's still all about making sure you get the right balance of nutrients to make you HEALTHIER in the long run, not just skinnier.
