Netball umpiring....what do I log it as?

AS part of my teaching programme I run a netball skills workshop for teens, and in the winter months I umpire matches as well. I'm logging the workshops as 'coaching' and only giving myself credit for half the time to allow for observation periods, but what on earth do I log umpiring as? Essentially its 4 x 10 min stretches for a full match of running the sideline back and forth, blowing the whistle and gesticulating madly. Would I log it as 4 x ten min jogs?

If I was you, I'd put it as playing. It's just as much exercise (without the jumping and sudden stops).

I see what you're saying but it's not, because netballs a full body sport and if you're not passing and intercepting you're not stretching and using your arms and body in the same way so to me it seems the caloric burn would be much less?

I'd really recommend getting an HRM if you can - then you can wear it the whole time, and get an accurate count.

I know it's a bit expensive, but I'm so glad I made the investment. I find it a major motivator to do more exercise when I don't feel like it.

I guess it's all a bit arbitrary really because I don't eat my excercise calories, but I still like to log and keep track of excercise :)
