Calorie counts - interesting reading

I've been taking calorie counts on products as gospel - interested to see that all cal counts may be in need of revision. Cal counting has been working for me though so I'm happy what we have is still good as a guide.

its ok, if some food is overestimated by 25% and some is underestimated by 25% it balances itself out!!!

I always though worrying about being +/- 100 calories was a waste of energy (not that you want to be +100 every day...)

I have always wondered how exact they were. Given that some are over estimated and some under we probably work out about even in the end!

Also, when you put in recipes on here, it's taking the calories in the raw food, that could be changed by the cooking process, I've also wondered how that actually works out.

I don't think it would stop us losing weight, as long as we keep a deficit going we should be okay - well I've managed to lose 2 stone doing it, but it's stil interesting reading that proves that calorie counting is never going to be an exact science! Thanks for posting the link.

ps the comments are pretty funny, it's like a thread gone wrong on here all over again.

Its a useful reminder that is especially important if you are close to goal and have a small deficit. For most people on a balanced diet it will work ok. Remember your exercise calories and BMR and TDEE are all estimates just use them as tools to guide you and track your results.
