What's the difference in soy protein and whey.

Just made it home with a new brand of protein powder when I noticed that it's Soy protein and not whey. What's the difference?

whey comes from milk, soy comes from ..well..soybeans. So as vegan, go with soya."Whey protein contains more amino acids than soy protein concentrate and is used slightly more efficiently by the body." Dont think there is major difference tho, i prefere the taste and general feel of whey protein but soy is aparently good too :3
  • Soya protein is made from soya beans, where as whey is made from milk.
Whey has also been shown to absorb faster into the body than soya.

Both are 'complete proteins' meaning that they contain all essential amino acids (those which cannot be synthesised by the body) so they will both do a similar job.

Soy tears up my stomach, whey does not. That is the only difference I can share.

It is believed that Soy produces estrogen and lowers testosterone which has a negative impact on gaining muscle (especially for men).

Overall Whey Protein has the greater impact:
