Seltzer water

This may or may not be a dumb question but I just wanted to get opinions.

I've been trying to drink my water but im sadly lacking when it comes to that, recently ive started drinking seltzer water so I can cut the soda from my daily habits. Is Carbonated water just as good as regular old water?

No, if you notice the trend of increased soda intake and obesity, you'd realize that carbonation is what is making people fat.

Or maybe it's the sugar in the soda

No, cause even diet soda has shown the same trends and that has no sugar

OP, you're fine. Just stay hydrated - be it regular water or carbonated.

I dont' see anything wrong with using seltzer water-that's what I do. I drink the Polar seltzers, they have some great flavors. In my opinion, (and it's only my opinion), it's better to stay hydrated with a little bubbles rather than drinking nothing at all or sugary drinks. Moderation right? You're going to get the purists who say you should drink water and only water, but realistically, you also get water from fruits, veggies, soup broth....

    mmmmm now I want some
  • I bought a sodastream months ago and it helped me increase my water intake. I drink about 5-6 cups still and 5-6 cups bubbly. I've been able to lose 55 pounds in 7 months and I think part of it is being hydrated, not losing weight in spite of the bubbles/

Correct. I used to think that it was, but the answer is NO. I posted a link about this a couple weeks ago when people were asking if tea was the same thing as water.

I also got blasted for posting something from a Livestrong site. At least they have sources at the bottom of their articles. I think like with many other studies....there are both that are observed that always seemed to be contradictory. Always check out the sample size that they use and ask yourself are you representative of the sample size they selected? For example if they did a study on 80 year old females with osteoporosis and they drank carbonated water for 6 months and they all gained 20 lbs of lean mass if you are a 20 year old male, the carbonated water might not have the same effect. Anwyays....here are some of the links so you can check out the studies that are referenced that both show that

Carbonated water is both good....and can also be bad. LOL Go figure!

What I got out of reading the articles is that. Carbonated water is good, but dont rely on that alone. Supplement your carbonated water with few glasses of flat water as well. The other thing is that everyone's body is Ph Balanced differently. You have probably seen the hair commercials that talk about PhBalanced shampoo. Its important we chemically balance our insides as well as the outside.

I drink seltzer water all day long. I buy the unflavored plain stuff (it is only water with carbonation) and add freshly squeezed lemon or lime. It's so refreshing!
