Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night hungry?

Like, your stomach growling so that it wakes you up?

Any suggestions on how to stop that? I don't get out of bed and eat when this happens, but it does wake me up.

It's like my body isn't respecting the normal FAST that occurs when we sleep.

you could try rearranging your calories a bit to eat a little more at dinner, or have a snack an hour or so before bed.

Have something rich in protein, fiber and fat shortly before bed. That should get you through the night. Apple slices with peanut butter for example.
  • All the time. I eat right before I go to bed, too. I then realize I'm actually thirsty and gulp down a water bottle and go back to sleep.

I have this problem when I stay up until 2am-3am watching TV shows when I don't have work until late the next day.
Sometimes, I see this as a sign to fall asleep as the sooner I wake up the sooner I can have breakfast, other times I have a few squares of dark chocolate (I factor it into my calories for the previous/next day) and it's enough to tide me over.

I was waking up hungry in the middle of the night. I realized I was eating too little for the calories I burned. When I increased my intake during the day, I slept soundly.

This happened to me for the first time in years a few days ago. Was 1am and my stomach was growling like crazy. I got up and had a greek yogurt. Went right back to sleep with no problems but believe me I tried to ignore it and couldn't. I don't remember the last time that happened to me. I don't even feel hungry when I wake up in the morning let alone getting up in the middle of the night like that.
