I tend to do what you do. Whatever my schedule allows and whatever I feel like (as long as it's more than 16 hours). I try to stick to 18 hours with one 24 hour fast per week. (Occasionally, I will have one day where I don't fast longer than overnight.) This week, my period started so I have been all over the place 16 hours here 20 hours there.
I have also read that sometimes fasting can affect hormones but I read that it depends a lot on genetics. For some women (and some people, generally) fasting can cause issues. If you feel fine and aren't noticing anything strange, I wouldn't worry about it. If you are concerned, your doctor can easily check your hormones.
There are definitely other women on here who stick much closer to 20/4 than I do who haven't had problems. Check out the Intermittent Fasting group.
Edit to add: I find that I have more energy fasted. I feel like I lift better and my head is clearer. I feel kind of groggy and tired when I've just eaten and have definitely enjoyed having that only happen during a short period each day. With my schedule as crazy as it is, it is also nice to not have to worry about eating all the time.0 -
I have 3 meals a day but during the week I eat the most calories for my midday meal. At night I may have a bit of fruit and/or a small amount of protein but if I have no calories left I just drink water. It doesn't bother me at all-I prefer to eat this way as I'm the most hungry at midday. I workout in the morning 6 days a week and usually burn 700 calories.
I'm 3 pounds from my goal weight of 125 so its slow going but I'm in no rush. I lose about 1/2 pound a week.0
