...Marion Nestle, a professor of nutrition, food studies and public health, and author of the 2012 book "Why Calories Count." Despite the inaccuracies in the Atwater system, she says, when it comes to obesity, the biggest problem is that people are eating too much.

"One point is clear," she recently wrote. "Larger portions have more calories. The easiest way to prevent weight gain is to eat less by choosing smaller portions, fewer snacks and healthier meals in general."

Any processed for is going to be over the stated calories. Labels are based on averages and the video does a really good job showing that. It is surprising just how far over some of the processed, pre-made foods went. I always assume about 10%, but double? Whew!

But as the statement above points out, most people have issues with weight because they over-eat. Calorie counting isn't a precise sicence, but is an excellent guideline to keep people on a healthier track.
