Problem with bustier women not getting reading from HRM?

I finally decided on an HRM, ordered it and was stoked to try it out today. Bummer, after several attempts (I have a Polar FT7, wetted the chest strap and tried tightening it), I could not get it to read a heart rate. I am wondering if it's due to my sports bra strap hitting in the same spot the chest monitor hits? Any other ladies have this type of issue?

You put the HRM UNDER the sports bra and under your boobs. Is that what you're doing?0
