Shoe Help

I would love some input. I am very new to exercise in general. I am wanting to start out small & start with walking every morning before the rest of my family gets up.
My biggest problem is I have no clue of what type of shoe is good for walking. If I went into a shoe store right now I would be over whelmed & wouldn't even know where to start or what I need to look for in a good shoe. I am a large person so I'm assuming that may make a big difference in what type of shoe I need.
Please keep in mind that I'm on a budget & would need to stay in the $50 range.
Thanks!

If all you are doing is wanting to start walking, then you could go to some place like foot locker and get someone to help you out. You dont' have to buy it there. You can have them help you out, then go to Rack Room and get them cheaper lol. But, if you decide to start running then I would suggest going and getting fitted for running shoes as that will be a lot more crucial to your feet.0

shoes for walking shouldn't be too hard. Something with a bit of squish under the heel and ball of the foot is all you need to start with. (What I mean is, walk in something like NewBalance, not Converse All Stars.)
-It should lace/velcro securely, but not so much that you lose circulation or get numb or tingles (your feet might swell when you walk, so it's nice to get something you can adjust halfway thru your walk)
-It shouldn't cost too much
-It should breathe and stretch a little as you bend your foot (like, not stay too hard, like a wooden shoe would)
-Your foot shouldn't slide forward or back
-Your toes should be able to wiggle a little
-Whether you need arch/heal support is hard to guess until you try it. I typically just buy a shoe with minimal built in arch support and add my own arch support/gel insert if I find I need one
Edit to add: my favorite shoes to walk in are my Chaco Z/2. But it's winter, so I can't wear those right now!0
