Paul Mkenna

Hi, I'm new to this forum so forgive me if this has already been asked and answered. Have any of you used the Paul McKenna "I Can Make You Thin" method? If so, any comments, positive or negative? Many thanks.

I can make you thin. It's really simple. Eat less and do more. End of story.

I saw that on TV many years ago, the idea is if you eat slowly and "consciously" it helps you to follow your body's cues regarding when you're full and when you're hungry. If someone is obese because they have learned to override their body's hunger signals or have lost the ability to listen to them, then this may help somewhat, although it's not going to be as reliable as calorie counting. Also, if you use this form of portion control, it's best to avoid drinking calories as the body's appetite mechanism does not register the calories that you drink (we evolved drinking water which doesn't contain calories). So this might work for some people. Also, there's no reason not to calorie count as well while doing this, it may help you to feel more full on less food and it'll certainly help to teach you how much food your body needs if you combine it with calorie counting.

I also seemed to recall he used the emotional freedom technique for dealing with emotional food cravings and comfort eating. I've not tried this myself but I know people who use this technique for dealing with anxiety, maybe it works for food cravings that have an emotional cause and helps to stop someone comfort eating.

I don't see what's wrong with the above two things, and it seems to me these are the main things from what I saw of the programme that will help with fat loss. I don't really think hypnosis or special tricks come into it.

no idea, not seen anything from him recently. My post was based on a TV series he did "Paul McKenna will make you thin" which was back when I still lived in the UK, so a good few years ago.
