Target BMI and BMI Limitations

Do you have a target BMI? The charts say anything over 25 is considered "overweight" but there are lot of limitations of BMI, including those with a muscular build. I am not sure what my target weight is. I have people ask me how much more weight I plan to lose and I'm not sure. I definitely want to get my BMI under 30 but I also lift weights and am building more muscle. I will probably talk with my doctor about it but I think a BMI of 26/27 with a muscular build is better. I'm 6-0 and my current weight is 244 pounds. My goal is to reach 200 pounds but according to the BMI chart, anything over 185 is considered overweight. The military sets a limit of 204 pounds for a male with a height of 6-0 so I think that if it's good for the military fitness level, that is good with me. I also track my hip and waist measurements and another goal of mine if to get my waist under 40 inches. Currently, my waist is at 45 inches at my navel (I was at around 66 inches a year ago). Personally, I think 180 is pretty scrawny for a guy 6-0. I would rather be cut and muscular at 200 pounds. I read an article that half of all NBA players were considered overweight according to BMI but I wouldn't consider most NBA players overweight in a traditional sense.
