Calorie counting when nutritional details are not available?

I would assume this question has probably already been asked, but I couldn't find it using the search function.

I'm really trying to be as accurate as possible tracking my food intake using MFP - even started weighing/measuring my food. However, there are times when nutritional information is not available for food and I can't find it in the MFP database. For example, today I had a Vegan Garden Burger from Whole Foods for lunch (freshly prepared at the market counter). I've scoured the internet looking for nutritional information for this and/or something similar but basically had to make a guess and use what I could find in the MFP database.

It really sucks to have to guess when I've put so much effort into accurately recording everything else. What do you do in this situation?

All you can really do is just like you said, look for the closest thing to it that IS in the MFP database and use that as a "close enough"guesstimation. I know that kinda sucks but its not always possible to find certain things. You couldnt find any results when searching garden burger? The last resort is quick add calories but how are you supposed to know.

Got it. Thanks for the confirmation!
  • Tbh I won't eat something of unknown calorie/macro content, but I'm kind of weird.
