Thick Crust Pizza Recipe

I know this may be a contradiction in terms, but....Pizza is a food staple in our house. We will burn as many extra calories as needed to eat pizza lol. Does anyone have good LOWER calorie pizza dough recipe that is a thicker crust? My husband hates thin crust anything so I am on a never ending quest for the lowest calorie thicker crust pizza dough recipe I can find. Any recipe ideas would be very helpful. I love cooking so I will gather any and all and try them at some time. Thank you!!

I used to buy the ready to bake frozen bread loaves, thaw them and use those. Not sure how many calories, but if you are willing to work for them... Now I use pizza yeast and make my dough in minutes as it doesn't need to rise. I too am willing to burn in order to eat. So worth it if you use lots of veg toppings!!!

Yeah that is what we do, lots of veggies and the cheese and sauce we go light on. But crust has been an issue. I will look into both of those ideas, thank you very much!

Basically, I just load my pizza up with meats and veggies to fill me up. I like normal-sized crust, not thick or thin. But the way I make it, I get full off two slices. And it's only about 600-700 calories.

After having made bread/dough for a while, I don't think there is such a think as low calorie.
It's flour, salt, and water basically. A bit of sugar to feed the yeast. A bit of oil...
You can cut the sugar to about 1T, and the same with the oil.

I make my own pizza base using a bread recipe(so the base is lovely and soft and thick (drool)) but only leave it to prove for 10 mins on second proving. I also use less cheese and cover it more with veggies.

    6oz plain flour
    1tsp salt
    1tsp dried yeast
    1tbsp olive oil (15ml)
    6tbsp lukewarm water (45ml)

Combine all, knead for 10 mins, leave in warm place for 1hr.
Knead for 1 min, then roll out. Leave covered for 10mins.
Add toppings, bake at 200C or 400F for 15-20 mins.

    Perfect every time :)

Thanks everyone! The recipes, ideas and advice are really helpful. I am trying to buy much less packaged food. I know low cal pizza is a contradiction in terms but it's worth a try at finding the lowest calories :)

Pizza is one of those things that is worth eating, however many calories, but it really feels so much better eating it if you've made it yourself! And there's less sat fat and salt too. I had it for dinner tonight :)
