Maintaining your weight once you've reached your goal

I came here on the advise of someone who had lost a lot of weight. (I loved his body! it was perfect) I didn't believe I could lose the weight as I had tried for years but it was easy once I saw what I was eating clearly. I just wanted to lose 5 lbs but have lost 22! At 5 ft 2 inches with a tiny frame I am at 109 and still losing weight. My goal was 120 then 115 and finally I feel perfect at 110. I want to maintain my weight but am afraid if I increase my intake I will gain weight again. I have used the MFP feature to set a maintainence intake but I know I will gain weight at that level. Has anyone tweaked their intake to maintain weight or have any input what the best way would be to maintain goal weight?

How do you know you will gain at that level? And yes, you can customize your calorie goal. Just like with the weight loss goal, sometimes you have to play with it. I'm not quite there, but I use the TDEE method...given where I'm at weight loss wise (1 Lb per week), all I should have to do is add 500 calories to my current weight loss goal. Remember, just as the loss wasn't linear, your maintenance won't be either. You will still have natural body weight fluctuations at maintenance. When I maintain I can easily fluctuate 2-3 Lbs daily just as I do when I'm losing.

As long as you remain as vigilant and honest with your calorie counts at maintenance as you have been during your weight loss phase, the numbers MFP supplies for maintenance should work to keep you at your target weight.

I suffered a little hiccup when going to maintenance, but I finally accepted that I let my guard down and was actually going over caloric goals too often. Bad habits crept back in.
