How should I feel?

I saw my brother today for the first time in about a month. He noticed my weight loss and asked me if I was on the Jenny Crank diet. Meaning was I on drugs. I don't even know what to think at this point. I never have and never will use drugs and he knows that. Should I be mad at him or just let it slide as a really bad joke?

    1) How you feel is how you feel. You don't have to apologize for it, nor is it a "should or should not" issue. If you feel hurt and offended, you feel hurt and offended. No need to push yourself towards feeling one way or another.

    2) As per how you REACT, it might be a matter of the previous relationship you two have had. Is he a jerk normally? Is he just prone to ill-timed jokes? That sort of thing. In either case, a short discussion about what jokes are and are not acceptable might be in order.
  • I would take it as a bad joke. My co-workers love to make terrible jokes like that.

Sounds like he was trying to be funny. I'd pretend to laugh and and roll my eyes, like I always do when people aren't funny. I do that a lot.

We have a pretty good relationship. Obviously we have had our ups and downs but what siblings haven't. I did tell him that I was not using anything and he just changed the subject.

I wish someone would look at me and think ”damn she's lost a ton of weight”. He was just joking. Unless you've gotten really bad teeth since he last saw you... Then it would be a valid question.
