Gave myself a break?

So this happened - I am a gym 3 times a week, run 3 times a week half-marathon hero.

I check calories, watch fat and snacks, blah blah blah but was fairly stuck at 74kg. Still a healthy enough weight for me so I wasn't worried.

Up comes a week holiday - very little exercise, an eating and drinking filled weekend to Budapest, back to a catch-up busy week in work and still no running or gym. Discovered real butter in the fridge and ate it over the week with a loaf of bread.

And today? 73kg! Come on science, explain that away!

    youre doing it right.

    real butter FTW.
  • Well done! That happened to me too.

Was super careful up till Christmas, then stopped logging, ate dessert, pancakes and drank on nights out.

Lost 3 pounds in two weeks!

Adaptation--because when we are dieting and losing weight over an extended time period, our bodies adapt. Metabolism adapts. Our bodies want homeostasis. So when you change up your routine like you did, by resting, eating a bunch more calories/fat, etc. it threw your bod a curve ball! Your body responded by kicking your metabolism into gear again. That's how you do it!

And yes, seconding the "REAL BUTTER FTW" comment!
