High protein, low carb diet...Thoughts?

In the past, I lost those last stubborn 5ish pounds by cutting back on carbs (i.e. bread) and eating lots of fruits, veggis, and protein. Since it has worked before, I figured it would work now, but it seems like the high protein diet has made my muscles grow...can a high protein diet do this??

Only if you're doing a lot of exercise that includes weight lifting, and most likely combined with a calorie surplus.

Otherwise all that extra protein will probably just get pissed out as waste since the body doesn't need that much. Otherwise the body will struggle to convert it to energy or fat, since that's probably what it does need.

Diets that restrict one particular macro nutrient (eg: carbs or fat) are usually either for very specific purposes (such as a particular requirement for an athlete or in response to a medical condition) or else they're fads which may deliver results, but not because of the restriction of the macronutrient (good results will be something else you're doing to compliment the diet).
