MFP'ing at work... Guilty as charged!

Actually, I am guilty of doing a lot of un-work related things at work! Like yesterday I spent the day designing my best friend's Engagment party invite. She was wrapped by the way - hehe! It also got me thinking that a lot of us put in so much effort trying to hide un-work related things at work ... probably even more effort than work itself!

When things are quite in the office, what do you usually get up to to kill time and how do you prevent being caught-out?

I play with Adobe Illustrator to design fun stuff! So far I have made business cards, logos for friends and some pretty cool flyers. "Getting caught" isnt much of a problem so I don't worry about it.

LOL !!! It's facebook for me, I'm a FB junkie!!!
  • Well, I'm a line cook at a country club, so my 'office' is the kitchen -- my down time comes when the weather is bad, and people don't want to get out and about. The cooks I work with are a bunch of hams (no culinary pun intended), so we keep each other rolling in between orders.

I am bad at this! I like have ADD at work I start doing other things without even realize it. I'm planning my wedding so I often find myself with the wedding on my mine and looking up different things like decor, honeymoons, photographers. Today I wrote out the thank you cards for my Bridal Shower that was last weekend. I am guilty of "MFP-ing" at work too.

I am a paraprofessional at a high school and work directly with students from the time that I walk in until I leave, so no chance to do anything that isn't work. Now, in my previous job, I could sneak in a few things, but was mostly too busy. I did sometimes manage to work on music for my church bell choir.

Don't see why you'd worry about what people spend their time on as long as they were getting their work done. I spend heaps of time at work hanging out and talking. Then I go home and spend heaps of time working on things that need solitude. With the people I supervise, as long as they get the work that needs doing, done, I'm happy. If they come up with extra work to make things better, I'm even happier, and that leads to more money for them. If they prefer to just chill when there's nothing urgent needing doing, that's ok, but they'll probably stay on low incomes. No dramas and everyone's happy.

I also have major ADD at work. I'll be working on something, then have some sudden, stupid thought.. and be on the net. God forbid I open wikipedia, because then I'll be surfing different articles for twenty minutes without realizing it.

And I only WISH I could have adobe at work. My measly work computer wouldn't be able to handle the monster that is Photoshop.
