How in the heck can you do it?
I have real problems getting my minimum calories unless I eat pure crud. How do you get all of your calories in and not resort to eating bad food?

Here are some Ideas to help you get to your calorie goal without eating junk.
Step 1
Sprinkle nuts on your cereal. Nuts, particularly almonds, hazelnuts, pine nuts, peanuts, pecans, walnuts and pistachio nuts, help lower the risk of heart disease, according to the Mayo Clinic. Nuts are also high in calories. Placing 1/4 cup of chopped walnuts on your cereal will add 200 calories to your daily intake.
Step 2
Dress your pasta and salads with olive oil. Olive oil is high in calories--just 1 tablespoon contains 120 calories--but olive oil does not carry the same risk of heart disease and stroke that butter, lard and vegetable oil do. Instead, olive oil contains HDL, or high-density lipoprotein, which lowers bad cholesterol, decreasing the risk of heart disease.
Step 3
Mix wheat germ into your meals. Wheat germ is a powdery substance, derived from wheat kernel embryos that is high in folic acid, but contains only half a gram of saturated fat per serving. Stirring 1/4 cup of wheat germ into pudding or yogurt will add 120 calories to your meal.
Step 4
Eat avocado once a week. Avocado is a fruit high in vitamin K, dietary fiber and potassium. Although a medium avocado does contain over 4 grams of saturated fat, take advantage of its dietary benefits by eating it occasionally. One medium-sized avocado contains 161 calories.
Step 5
Add a baked sweet potato as a side dish. Sweet potatoes contain far more vitamins than its plain, white counterpart. One large baked sweet potato, eaten plain with the skin, contains 162 calories. Adding low-fat yogurt or a dab of butter to the potato will increase the calorie count.
Step 6
Eat eggs, but not too many. According to the Mayo Clinic, some cholesterol is necessary, even some bad cholesterol. Although eggs are high in cholesterol, they can be eaten occasionally and in moderation as part of a healthy diet. One egg contains 70 calories.0 -

I get full... I just don't seem to be able to eat all of the calories. I eat 5-6 times a day because I work long shifts, so my meals are very "pick at this, pick at that" because we don't really get long breaks or anything (at least I don't) The mission takes priority to my lunch hour lol.
Thank you for the tips... I guess I should start eating nuts and stuff. It is just the volume that is killing me, because I really don't like eating when I am not hungry.0 -
Dress salads and pasta with flax-seed oil. A huge 120cals of pure goodness in every tablespoon.
Eat more whole, sprouted grain.
Raw nuts.0 -
another things to focus on instead of just calories (which everyone rams down your throat around here like it's the only damn thing to be concerned about) is the nutrient content of the calories you are consuming. Try to make your foods as natural as possible, avoid the empty calorie foods like takeout and frozen dinners. EAT MEAT!! (as well as other things) and yes, you need to add more natural healthy fats to your diet.0

I didn't think there was a hate on fats in those suggestions. It tells you to eat them in moderation.0 -
lol i've never had this problem. but when i do have a calorie deficit, sometimes i do eat a bit of junk. question: as long as i'm under my calorie goal, will WHAT I eat make that much of a difference in weight loss? (I know long-term it's not good, but just for weight loss I'm interested.)0

If you are insulin resistant, then eating a lot of carbs can slow your weight loss. That's the only condition I know of where the type of calorie impacts weight loss vs. just the amount. (Eating carbs slows down the metabolism of an insulin resistant person.)0
