Jump rope workout?

Hi guys! My question is about a jump rope workout. Now I go to the gym pretty often and can use the machines at the gym to get my cardio, but I'm afraid that if I get a job my schedule will change and finding time to actually physically GET to the gym in between studying and rehearsing will be next to impossible. Because of this I was thinking about taking up a jump rope cardio routine, but I don't know, well, anything! Hahaha.

What kind of jump rope should I get? For how long should I jump rope? Right now I work out for an hour on cardio machines before I do my strength training, so I'd really like to be able to work out with a jump rope for an hour. What are the best techniques?

thank you :)

Buy pretty much any rope. They are adjustable to your height. You just measure them to your armpits and cut them. Look on YouTube for a video example of this. There are a few different types of cords but in a store you will only find leather or plastic. I prefer a cable cord for the high speed but you'll need to go to amazon for that. Choose the cord based on the surface you will be jumping on. And jumping is as an extremely intense workout. You won't need (or want) to jump for hour. Set your initial goal for 10 mins then shoot 15-25 mins or so.

fitness blender has at least 1 jump rope routine, and cross fit workouts use it often too.
  • Ten minutes?!?!? Awesome!! Goodness, that's great. I could work out more often than I do right now knowing that! I just need to buy a jump rope. :) Thank you so much!
