Caffine and IBS

I suffer from IBS and I have learned that one of the main triggers for me is coffee because of the caffine in it (decaf is just as bad). I love having a hot beverage in the morning as I read my devotions so when I wanted to make sure coffee was really a problem I switched to hot chocolate (no sugar added kind) and I feel so much better. So now I thought hot tea would be better but someone told me the caffine is just as bad in tea. Is this true? Am I better off sticking with the hot chocolate? Since stopping the coffee I have been feeling so much better so I really don't want to start tea if it is going to effect me in a negative way. I was liking the idea that the tea with a 1/4 cup milk was only 30 calories opposed to the hot chocolate which is 60 calories but I will take the extra 30 if it means I feel good.
Does anyone else deal with this kind of issue that could help me figure out which is best to have?

I don't have the same problem as you, but I do drink tea occasionally, and I know their are many Naturally Caffeine free Herbal Teas out there. I like Celestial seasoning, they have a bunch of different flavors.0

I don't have IBS but some other GI/bowel issue...If I make coffee at home I can drink it, if I "drink out" all depending on what's closest i will either have coffee or tea. Tea DOES have caffeine but MUCH less than coffee!
Coffee can have as much as 200mg of caffeine per 8oz serving! If you want to experiment with tea...Try decaf and see how you feel but generally speaking tea has a lot LESS caffeine than coffee!
Black tea can have between 14-61mg,green 24-40mg, decaf black 0-15mg and iced teas can range from 5-26mg.
It all depends on how sensitive you are really, for example I cannot drink Tim Horton's and might be able to do McDonald's, Starbucks would depend on what I buy but I know for a fact that I can drink Timothy's coffee/teas no prob.
To be on the safe side I just stick to stuff at home 95% of the time (don't eat out much at all really) and if I go out just put my drink in a Thermos so I have a "safe" drink on-the-go0
