Caloric goals

So, when I first started MFP I had my goal at 1200 calories, and I did okay for about 6 months, and then I "fell off the wagon" and wasn't back onto MFP until recently. I started a 10 week challenge with some friends, so I've been more into it this time. But I started off with 1300 cals, and at first I was not exercising, but for the most part sticking with my goals. Then I started exercising again, and mostly not eating back my calories. When I hit the 10lbs lost mark MFP wanted to reevaluate and put m y calories down to 1200. I decided I had been doing well with 1300 so I put it back to that. I am 5'6" and currently 208/209. I'm burning about 450 cals 3 or 4 times a week (working on making that 4 or 5).

So I guess my question is, especially those close to my "stats" what is your experience with losing weight & then decreasing caloric goals.
