Protein and how much to eat?

Hi there everyone - I am new to this site and wondering about the protein allowance listed for my daily food goals. It seems I should only eat 45g of protein a day, but I seem to be having a lot more than this every day. As an example, I ate a can of tinned tuna for lunch and some chicken breast for dinner. Along with other 'incidental' protein in other items, my total for the day was around 80g. Is this bad? How does 'too much' protein affect weight loss? I would have thought this was a good thing to eat rather than overloading on carbs or fat!!

The goals this site suggests for protein are far too low. You should be aiming to go well over that goal. You need protein in your diet for your muscles... especially at a deficit since you lose muscle.
Keep going over on protein..0 -
Thanks now_or+never1! I somehow felt that the levels suggested were too low! Will keep things going as they are in that case. All the best. - Helly20090
