So I am starting my journey to losing over 100 pounds, and I am wondering about what exercises will decrease belly fat & tighten everything up the best? I am afraid I will diet and workout on my elliptical and lose weight, but have excess skin... I want to workout during this time to prevent this. Any tips?!

I'm not too sure if there is a way to prevent the skin if you have a good bit to lose. I lost almost 200 in less than three years and I worked out hard plus ate right...there is a good bit of skin still left on me..you can even look at my pictures..
For workouts though, the exercise bike does well with the middle and so does running. Walking is good for the thighs and waist.0 -
1. if you are young, it is more likely your skin will go back to where its supposed to be when you lose the weight, not 100% but losing the weight young definitely helps this!
2. If you haven't had children yet, it is also more likely that you wont have too much excess skin
3. definitely work out while losing weight!!!
Good luck!!0 -
Slow and steady, Noway to know how your skin will respond but I do gaurentee that loose skin beats the hell out of fat. Do not even worrry about that now. Eat good foods, get active. and try to lose weight slowly. I lost over 100 pounds my first year and I have some loose skin but it is getting better everyday. right now focus on you and work day by day. Here is good info:

Standard reply of you cannot spot reduce. To reduce belly fat you have to reduce fat in general. The body will decide where to lose the fat from first. You may lose it there first or last. You can't do anything to target it.
Skin will bounce back to some extent. It can take upwards of a year for the skin to tighten back up.
Along with cardio start to strength train. It is important to keep the muscles strong to have that tight look when you start dropping in body fat %. You can look into lifting 3 times a week with cardio. And before anyone says it, no, you don't have to worry about looking bulky with lifting. The fat won't turn into muscle and you won't turn into a she-hulk. You will, however, be stronger and leaner even at a higher weight than what you can get to with cardio alone.0 -
Thanks to all the replies! I have had one child, and I am definitely altering my eating to less calories AND better foods, while using my elliptical at home and doing workouts that do not require any other equipment for now. I do not want to worry about this issue now, but I cannot help it..I am a worrywart!0
