This week I've run (about 50miles) , biked (20miles) , or done insanity just about every day. I woke up wanting to hit the gym but always thought that a day of recovery was always needed. Any thoughts about recovery? Necessary? Anyone workout 7 days a week without effecting energy levels?

Thanks

Take a rest day. The way it works is that you'll be fine fine fine fine and then blammo, you hit a wall and it's almost impossible to get thru it. Don't wait to hit the wall

Rest and Recovery is just as important as the exercise itself. It's during rest and recovery that your body reaps the benefits of your workouts. That doesn't mean you have to do nothing...just keep it to a recovery type activity like a nice walk or something that isn't going to tax your body too much.

I have been working out everyday since Christmas, only missing one day. I have felt pretty good and seen good results. I have been doing a C25K program three days a week and weightlifting the other 4 days alternating upper body and lower body (Body for Life routine). My "day off" has occasionally been light cardio cross train day like stationary bike or elliptical. I struggle to take the day off though as I have gotten to the long runs at the end of the C25K program my body has just started to ask for the day off I think. So I am interested to hear more opinions on the day of rest. Not looking for muscle gain just weight loss.
